I live in a small house in a Midwestern college town with my wife, daughter and dog. Like many other folks these days, I am interested in living a more ecologically-minded lifestyle. This usually involves me screwing around on the weekends with projects that increase the energy-efficiency of our house, increase food production from our very small yard, reduce our need for driving, or enhance wildlife habitat and ecosystem services. I will use this blog is to chronicle what worked and what didn’t.
I’ll also use this space as a phenology journal where I record events like bloom dates of plants and arrival dates of migrating wildlife. I like the idea of the phenological reports contextualizing the seasonal nature of the project reports because every phenological event has potential to inspire a new project.
And occasionally, I’ll talk about a great sandwich, beer, or record. The things that really matter.
